ABOUT
Mark Pearman is currently a broadcast consultant, mostly working on overseas projects. He joined BBC TV at just 17 years old. Within four years he was managing both the BBC Theatre and BBC Greenwood Theatre, working on numerous LE, Variety, Drama serials, News, Comedy, Music and Current affairs programmes. He was appointed BBC Sports youngest ever AP in 1988. In 1991 he was an original founding member of Sky Sports that pioneered Sports Broadcasting coverage from the early 1990's, for the next 30 years. In 2000 he was seconded by Sky to MD Opta Index and created the vision of how sports stats would be consumed by the media, breaking through TV and News prints initial sceptisism.
In 2003 Mark launched Sky's ground breaking coverage of the UEFA Champions league, including Liverpools miracle final victory in Istanbul in 2005. He devised and created some of Sky's most succesful support programming strands. Continually tasked and challenge with raising the sports broadcasting bar, no one in this period produced more major European and Domestic Cup Finals. Furthermore equally managing the expectations and aspirations of sponsors, agencies and rights holders. He continued innovating Sky Sports coverage, producing Tennis, Athletic's, Snooker, Boxing, Darts and UK's Strongest Man. Over a 20 year period he developed the prestigeous PFA Award Shows, leading inclusion and live music, as well as devising numerous chat, news and topical debate shows into the Sky Sports schedule. In 2021 he spent 10 weeks in Japan supporting the Olympic coverage, including overseeing the Equestrian and Shooting at the Paralympics.
